original working title: "Pillow"

"The music was written and recorded long before I knew what to do with it. I had written up some lyrics and sang over the tracks, but it was cheesy and didn't fit. It stayed that way for months, and it took a lot of effort to remove the melody and lyrics from my mind. Once I did, I just fell into the atmosphere of the song, and wrote about what I saw."

Don’t leave the dogs pulling their chains at night
A red sky crashes on false pretence
The breaking of tides doesn’t make much sense

A piercing noise carried in the air
The anguish all stripped from our despair
Fury shakes the leaves of bended boughs
Forgotten are the freedoms once were allowed

Fields are scorched in withered crop
Oceans wrung dry of every drop
Plague born out of the filth & grime
Fault-lines test the stand of time

Wipe the tears of reflecting on a life gone wrong
Find prayer to ease the passing on
Strangers walk away with arms out wide
And nothing will stay the breaking tide
