about
"There was a club called Sanctuary I spent a lot of time at during the '90s. It was a grungy goth/industrial bar that exposed me to a wider variety of industrial music than I got in the suburbs. The chorus to 'Figurehead' by Covenant was the basis for 'Monster'. I wasn't a Covenant fan, but that song would get lodged in my head. I just loved that melody."
lyrics
I’m the last real monster in the world
Left to live in silence
Waiting for another day
I’m the last real lover in the world
Challenging all that you believe
Tempting the possibility
I am the crack in the image of your god
Scared, angry, frail and flawed
You can’t bear to face the other side
With no one to hide behind
I am the ultimate offer
To your unreal lives
I’m the last real monster in the world
It took ’til now to realize
Your human heart beats with His lies
I am the crack in the image of your god
Scared, angry, frail and flawed
You can’t bear to face the other side
With no one to hide behind
In a world shattered by decay
I turn from god
I walk away
